Cellulite - how to fight it
Cellulite - how to fight it
What is cellulite? Why does it appear? Can it be avoided?
Most likely, when you mention the word "cellulite", the expression "orange peel" comes to mind. And you've probably been told that the more burgers and pizzas you eat, the more cellulite you'll have. And that is the "girls' curse" that even if you use anti-cellulite creams regularly, you'll never be able to get rid of it because it depends on your genes. This article is for all those who think that there is still hope… The truth is that sometimes the best weapon is not to treat yourself with many different means, but to have the right information and to direct your efforts correctly because no one is spared from this problem, which sooner or later affects each of us, to a greater or lesser extent.
What it is and why it appear?
Cellulite or "gynecoid lipodystrophy" is the accumulation of fatty nodules in the subcutaneous tissue in certain areas of the body that we know well: the thighs, abdomen, buttocks or upper arms. We often associate "orange peel" with being overweight, but this is not always the case - it is also observed in people with poor physique. It is also associated with changes in some physiological functions of tissues (mostly connective), which implies fluid retention, and with a high level of estrogen production, which is why it occurs mostly in women - more than 85% are affected by women who have passed puberty.
Cellulite is localized in the hypodermis - the deepest layer of the skin, where most fat cells are located. Among them are adipocytes, those responsible for storing fat to provide protection against external negative factors and maintain body temperature. When adipocytes wear out and fat is unbalanced, the cells increase in size and push out the upper layers of the skin, creating those bumps we often call "orange peel."
Why do adipocytes stop functioning properly?
Due to poor blood circulation, largely genetic predisposition, malfunction or poor activation of hormones and sedentary lifestyle, in which poor nutrition and lack of physical activity are key factors.
Types of Cellulite:
We can distinguish different types of cellulite, as there are different classifications related to its structure, consistency and location.
1. You are likely to find common cellulite - one that affects almost every woman and which occurs during puberty due to sudden hormonal changes. This type of cellulite is the most common and does not hurt, unlike other types (eg, localized).
2. Localized cellulite - sometimes causes severe pain and is one of the most difficult to treat. Appears on the abdomen, thighs, can appear on the lower back, arms, ankles and underarms. Sometimes it is expressed in a feeling of heavy weight in the legs.
3. Mild cellulite - due to lymphatic stagnation, the affected areas have a soft, gelatinous and swollen appearance. It also causes discomfort, fatigue and weakness. If left untreated, circulatory disorders can worsen, stagnation increases, and cellulite can thicken and become hard.
4. Edematous cellulite - this type is associated with the malfunction of the circulatory and lymphatic systems. The reason for it is most often a sedentary lifestyle and a diet rich in salt and carbohydrates.
What can you do to fight the problem…
A balanced diet and regular physical activity are the key. You can always help yourself with cosmetics. Unfortunately, these three methods, even with persistent and methodical efforts, sometimes do not give the desired result.
Here come to the aid of devices and systems for reducing body fat at home as an alternative to exercise or additional help with regular physical activity. They allow you to be targeted specifically to the affected parts and give quick visible results, allowing you to enjoy the therapy in the comfort of your home.
